Icy campus!

Our finals were canceled today due to an Ice storm.
Ice has been falling since yesterday and the roads are pretty slick. Today’s finals have been moved to later during the week.

Can you believe we are almost done with the semester?......It went so quick!
Next week will be our finals week. My friends and I are ready to finish strong and get good grades. I will have 5 finals, two on Monday and one every other day. It won’t be that bad I think….. I’ll just need to study for it!

Miss HIV

Tonight on campus, there was an advanced screening of the documentary Miss HIV.
This movie depicts how the fight against AIDS has turned into a fight of ideologies, conservatives vs liberals. The international policy makers and the funds holders put conditions on the money they give to countries. They impose their strategies in the fight against AIDS rather than listening to individual countries who are more experienced in this fight and know what best suit their respective countries.

A case study of Uganda, where the ABC campaign had given tremendous results reducing the rate of AIDS in the general population from 15% to 6%, was presented in the movie. What’s pitiful is that the funds holders came in and imposed different strategies, concocted in some offices in the West, on Ugandans albeit the fact that the Ugandan-born ABC strategy had proved to be effective. Had the Ugandans not abided by these new strategies, they simply would not have got the funds from these institutions.

Yes, we are the champs!
My club Kappa won both the A and B league volleyball games tonight. We beat Delta in the B league and our main rival club Chi in the A league finals. It was so awesome!
Now we are heading to the break with a significant lead over all the guys clubs in terms of total points!!
