Bio: Dr. Thompson, Chair of the Department of Music, is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music. Her academic interests are piano pedagogy, chamber music, and ear training for music. She teaches theory, private and class piano, piano pedagogy, and music education courses, and conducts the University Chamber Orchestra. Dr. Thompson also is a member of the Oklahoma Community Orchestra and supervises the Oklahoma Christian Music Academy, a program in which qualified OC students teach music lessons to pre-college students. Dr. Thompson is the Vice President for Membership of the Oklahoma Music Teacher’s Association. She is the past president for the Central Oklahoma Music Teachers Association, and a member of the Oklahoma Music Educators Association. She is also the sponsor for the student chapter of the Music Teachers National Association. Dr. Thompson says, “I love teaching music to students of all ages, and I strongly believe in Christian education. OC presents an opportunity to do both in a wonderful environment.” She especially enjoys opening convocations and faculty devotionals, and Crosswalk (OC’s women’s chapel). Her husband is Bill and they have four children: Sarah Minor, Joel, Mark, and Ben Thompson. She attends Memorial Road Church of Christ where she is a Bible class teacher. She is also on the HIM (Helpers in Missions) committee.
