Frodo Speaking
While every one else on campus played Laser Tag for free, via Homecoming events, I went to Tonkawa to play NOC in basketball. It was not pretty to say the least. If you want to know details, ask. It was an experience, if for no other reason that NOC had some big time hecklers. A few things I remember them hurling in my direction were that I was the worst basketball player ever, they dated the sister I didn’t have, and I am the ugliest human to walk the earth. However funny that was, it was most definately topped by being dubbed Frodo Baggins. Every time I touched the ball the “Frodo, Frodo” chant started. I guess they thought it would hurt my feeligns, but I only laughed and kept playing.
Other than that, everything has been pretty normal. We are starting to finalize some ideas for the Freshman Banquet, which I’m in charge of because I’m the VP. The Halloween party was a success, and now they next thing on the Homecoming list is our float. I’d tell you what the theme is, but I’m certain it would perturb somebody so I won’t bother. My charge for the rest of the day is to enjoy life and just be glad you’ve got today.

Blood
Today was the first day of the OBI blood drive, and of course I gave some of my liquid. It’s quite an experience giving blood, and to watch others do the same. My friend Allison, who weighs 111 pounds, one over the minimum, is scared of needles. Despite all that, she felt like saving someone’s life and stuck it out and gave her blood. Hopefully, more people will make the same decision before they go on their cheap date night. Homecoming committee bought tickets for people to go to several different resturants and eat an entire meal for about $3 a person. Then the annual Homecoming musical, Into the Woods, opens that evening to complete the dinner and theatre evening. I will post some bloddy pictures tomorrow. Have a wonderful day.

Beautiful Fall Days

These last two days could have bene the prettiest days of 2005. Alas, the Oklahoma wind decided it would rear its ugly head, make it just in the top ten of pretty days. It was nice enough I deemed it picture worthy. This morning, I woke up and thought it was 8:36 which caused me to scurry around to get to class on time. I showered and dressed only to find out the clock on our microwave was about 30 minutes fast. Although somewhat frustrating, it was enjoyable to have time to read the newspaper.
Last night, was cheap dinner and theatre and I heard both went over really well while I was in Enid. We played much better, but were out athleted over the course of the game which didn’t give us much of a chance to win. It was still enjoyable to just hang out with the guys and play a little basketball. Our Lady Eagles had the same problem against OU last night. Unfortunately(?) we didn’t have anyone that was six foot by six foot to combat the pair of monsters that OU had. Here are a few pictures that are from the blood drive deemed a success.

Fun Friday
Tonight, most of the OC campus went and cheered on the bands in the annual Homecoming Battle of the Bands, but I’ve bnot been home long enough to find out the winner. I was busying playing another game tonight, this time in Midwest City against Rose State College. We lost, but that was expected. We practice three nights a week for 2 hours and they practice every day for 3 or more. It only makes sense that they’d beat us. Tomorrow is the big day Homecoming wise. Everyone will be back for the first game, there will be cornation, and most of all free food in the forum, WITH THE SUMMER SINGERS! It will be a good day.
Tonight, the Reba guys engaged in a little boxing much the chagrin of several “important” people. Most folks don’t realize that guys can punch each other in the face and not take it personally. It was good to get a little extra exercise and an opportunity to hang out with the guys. We kept it clean and nobody was injured, just to make sure, we only allowed one minute per fight. Fun times were had by all. Well people, the big day is approaching and I hope to see all of you in the Nest at 1:00 for the NAIA’s #3 team in the nation on both the men’s and women’s side!

Home, Home, HOMECOMING
What a Saturday! The game was completely incredible. We should have beat them worse, but our defense was lack luster so it was just a decent win. However, the game was very fun, I forgot how fun it was to just enjoy the game and be a fan. Next time I’ll be sure to take a picture, and I wish I would have this time because the capacity of 2060 was being pushed.
We had the parade which was a little corny, but a nice way to start the day. Danna looked beauitful as always and she’s fun to be around, which made the less than exciting morning more bearable. Now I’m off to watch the movie Hook on the big screen. It’s going to be a blast since Hook is only one of the coolest movies ever, and it’s Homecoming weekend and the buzz around campus is exciting. I’ll take a few pictures of the movie and report back in the morn.

Texas Trip
A good week of blogging follows a bad week of blogging. Too much stuff has happened for me to write about so I will write about the highlights. Tuesday, I had this incredible idea that Ft. Worth wasn’t really that far. See, that’s where Texas Wesleyan University is located, and our Oklahoma Christian Eagles were playing. I am firm believer that as a student I should fully support my athletics. So I round of three other JV basketball guys (minions), Braden “Medium Country” Mitchell, Scott “JB” Ross, and Brian “Chops” Carriger to come with me. I also had the tremendously good looking Nicole Lair come, and we decided that she was cool enough to not need a name.
The game itself was great. We won by 8 and it was a close game whole way. The best part of the game was at halftime when Jesse Bryant asked me if I was hungry. Of course I was hungry. The North Texas Alumni Association was feeding the OC crowd and it was great. They fed us at both halftime and after the game. After the game we came back and went to IHOP, which is why I didn’t blog on Wednesday! We won our game tonight against SNU so it was great! Rufuge was great too, as usual.
Tomorrow, we are going to OSU, that should be fun. I’ll post more later.

Stillwater Fodder
I’m coming to you from the corner of 4th and Walnut, home of Jacob Miles Cary. Jake’s my best friend in the entire world, and although we’re only an hour away from each other, we haven’t had much time to catch up, so that’s what we’re going to do before OC shocks his mighty OSU Cowboys. I will really try to take some pictures, but sometimes I get caught up in the game and forget.
This weekend is going to be a blast, after Stillwater tonight, I’m headed to play dodgeball in Sand Springs, and I’ll be sure to take a few pictures of that. Be sure to pray for everyone that’s going so that we can have a safe trip there and back. I’m pumped about dodgeball because Jake’s coming, and he will dominate! Now I have to go cheer the Eagles onto victory.

Weekend Warrior
This is a wild, wild weekend. Friday, I drove to Stillwater for the game, and OC put up a good fight. It was quite awkward to not cheer for OSU. That was the first time in 19 years that I cheered for someone playing OSU. Then Saturday, dodgeball. Sure, that’s not a complete sentence, but it is powerful enough to stand on its own right. Dodgeball Saturdays are almost indescribable because of the good time EVERYONE always has. If it was just a few people throttling others, then it wouldn’t be near as enjoyable, but it is all in good fun. Jake, my buddy from OSU came with us, and he is good at everything. So, it didn’t hurt that he was a dominate force in dodgeball.
Saturday night was another OC game, and although most of the crowed as subdued, a few of us did our part to urge the Eagles on to victory. After the game, I went and saw some friends from Hollis who were in for a horse show. It was good to spend some time with them, and although it wasn’t as much as I would have liked, it was better than nothing. Then Sunday, Nicole got up with me and went to Blackwell to see my grandparents, uncles, and dad. It was good to go back and worship there, I hadn’t been there in what seems like forever. One of the old guys that I’ve known forever told me he’d pay me to cut my hair. I may quit this blogging job and do that for a living. It was great to see my family and a bunch of other people at the church there for the first time in a long time. Now it’s time for WPA week, and I have two basketball games. It should be a fun, fun week. I’ll keep up with it better than last week.

Mighty Monday
Today has been a terrific day! I made it up in time for my 9 o’clock, which is the only one I ever miss, and I mostly only miss it on Mondays. Then I went to Comm II, and made a 100 on a quiz and an A on my speech. Then the preacher from Pt. Arthur was the speaker in chapel and he really motivated me to just enjoy everyday, just because we have it.
Tonight is the first night of Women Pay All and they are doing SPEED DATING, which if you’ve ever seen the movie Hitch, you understand. The girls stay at their own table and guys rotate from one table to another every three minutes. Then if it gets weird Taylor Walling is going to play as an Open Mic night. This guy is big time! While everyone is enjoying that, I’ll be playing in a JV game against OBU. It was quite a game last time, so it should be exciting again. Now it’s time to find that music that makes you smile, and either crank it up or turn it down nice and low, and just be happy. You are here, and have the opportunity to make it great as you would like.

Tumultuous Tuesday
Tuesday something horrible happened. The Arctic wind decided to make itself known in Oklahoma. The temperature dropped what seemed like 30 degrees from Monday to Tuesday. It gave me a cold which is causing me to feel a bit groggy today. I went on a WPA date with Nicole. It was pretty fun, well as much fun as you can have watching Hope Floats. The Marble Slab sundaes were really good though. We’re going ice skating Friday night so I’ll report back how that goes. I bet it doesn’t go as well as my roommate Alec’s date went, but that’s another story.
I set my schedule, and I am very happy with it. Although it’s challenging, I am taking two upper level classes, all my classes are done by 3:20 and none of them start before 10:00. That means I can be better rested for my more challenging classes. One, Jacksonian Democracy, is a senior level class. I know, right! You may think it sounds rather boring, but that’s why I’m a Social Studies Ed major. Well it’s time to head off to worship God, have a great day.

House Church
House church is something that is getting started here on the OC campus. It’s a thing on Wednesday nights where a group of people meet in a house and worship together. People pour out their problems to each other, we pray about everything together, we sing praises to God, and we read scriptures from His Word. It’s such an encouraging thing for people to just open up about every that’s happening in their lives. We’re doing this for several reasons. One is the fact that there is a definite need for people to be honest about their lives and that doesn’t happen far too often when there are several hundred people in one place. Another reason is because it’s good to have a core support group when problems come up, and know that you can always go to that group without the fear of anything. I would encourage any OC student to check it out and see if it fits the needs you are looking for, and if you want more info leave me a comment.
