OC Adds Two New Bible Teachers

Starting in the September, the Oklahoma Christian College of Biblical Studies will be adding two new Bible teachers to its current regular Bible staff of fourteen.  These two will both specialize in the Old Testament area, replacing Dr. Harold Shank who has left to become President of Ohio Valley University.

Dr. Charles Rix received a B.A.A. from Abilene Christian College in 1978.  His business degree opened the opportunity to became an auditor for Esso in Singapore and then he became the accounting manager for Esso’s retail operations in the Pacific.  For five years he was a Senior Financial Analyst for Exxon International stationed in New Jersey.

Rix also is a concert pianist, having studied at Arizona State University and in private study with leading concert pianists in the United States.  He was a finalist at the International Piano Competitions in Paris and New York and has performed in many places around the world.

In 2003, Rix completed a Master of Arts in Theological Studies at the New Brunswick Theological Seminary and in 2006 finished a Master of Philosophy at the Drew Theological School.  In 2010, he completed a Ph. D. in Biblical Studies/Hebrew at the Drew Theological School.

During the time of his graduate studies, he has taught at the New Brunswick Theological Seminary, at Drew University, and at Africa Christian College in Swaziland. He has also preached at the Monmouth Church of Christ in Tinton Falls, New Jersey.

Also joining the Bible faculty is Dr. Grant Testut.  He attended David Lipscomb University, graduating from there in 2003 with both a B.A. in German and a B.A. in Biblical Languages.  He attended Hebrew Union College to complete an M. Ph. in 2007 and a Ph. D. in Comparative Semitics in 2010.

Testut has taught Hebrew at the Hebrew Union College and worked with Pioneer Bible Translators to help train those doing translations in African languages.

Dr. Testut has attended several churches of Christ, working in their teaching programs and in preaching.  These include the Green Street Church of Christ in Nashville, the Central Church of Christ in Cincinnati, Ohio, and the Church of Christ in Cayuga Heights, New York.
