Alumna excels in real-life ‘CSI’ work

Cliburn shares experience with OC students

OC alumna Kacey (Hagan) Cliburn works in the toxicology unit at the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. At OSBI, she handles cases involving driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Kacey graduated from OC in June 2002 with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. In the span of just four months, she experienced several major life changes – graduating from college, marrying her college sweetheart Chad, moving away from family, and taking a job in the “real world.”

That August, she became a forensic chemist with the toxicology laboratory for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. During her time at the ME’s office, she found a passion for toxicology and a desire to research methods to identify drugs.

She completed her master’s degree in forensic science from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2007. Kacey and Chad live in Yukon with their young son, Grant.
