OC-NWOSU highlights

Oklahoma Christian opened SAC play with a 66-45 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State in the Eagles’ Nest on Monday night. Lindsey Gipson led all scorers with 23 points for OC.

             

OC had four players in double figures in a 69-57 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State on Monday night. The Eagles made 12 three pointers in the win to improve to 6-0 on the season and 1-0 in the SAC.

OC-Ozarks highlights

Oklahoma Christian trailed College of the Ozarks by as many as 17 points on Saturday. But a late 20-6 run gave the Lady Eagles a 69-68 win to improve to 4-0 on the year. Hillary Duncan led OC with 14 points.

OC-Hillsdale Baptist highlights

Oklahoma Christian scored a huge 91-21 win over Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College (Okla.) on Monday night. The Lady Eagles scored their seventh-largest margin of victory in school history with the 70-point win.

             

Oklahoma Christian beat Hillsdale Baptist (Okla.) 91-46 Monday to give head coach Dan Hays his 600th career collegiate victory. Hays has the most wins at the NAIA or NCAA level of any active coach in Oklahoma.

OC-TWU highlights

The Lady Eagles won for the second time in three days on Saturday with a 71-57 win over Texas Wesleyan. Lisa Chenoweth paced OC with 12 points in the win, while Lindsey Gipson added 11 points.

             

OC used a 19-2 second-half run to beat TWU 76-63 on Saturday. Jason Taylor led the Eagles with 21 points, while Jeff Crocker (16 points) and Chad Endres (13 points) also reached double figures.

OC-OWU highlights

Brittney Kennedy scored a team-high 19 points in OC’s season-opening 87-61 win over Oklahoma Wesleyan on Thursday night. The Lady Eagles used a 45-29 halftime lead to cruise to thier first win of the season.

Call him Representative Sanders

Former Lady Eagle play-by-play announcer Mike Sanders, an OC alumnus, won election to the State House from Oklahoma District 59 on Tuesday.

The Republican Sanders won the race with 11,092 votes, compared to his opponent, Democrat Don Russell’s 2,929 votes.

Sanders, whose enthusiasm and signature call, “Oh my chickens,” helped make him beloved on OC’s old KOCC radio station, told the Enid News & Eagle that he will continue working on economic development, reforming workers’ compensation and keeping the doors of rural hospitals open.

Sanders has worked for U.S. Rep. Frank Lucas as a field director, worked on George W. Bush’s presidential campaign, worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and was director of White House interns for three years. He also has worked for the Department of Rural Development.

Oklahoma House District 59 covers territory in Blaine, Canadian, Dewey, Kingfisher, Major and Woodward counties.

OC-UCO highlights

A late surge by Central Oklahoma resulted in a 79-76 victory over OC Tuesday night inside a raucous Eagles’ Nest. Kyle Tefft dropped a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds in the setback.

Eagles’ season opener highlights

OC opened the 2008-09 basketball season in style with an 18-point win over Park University (Mo.) in the Eagles’ Nest on Saturday. The Eagles got 25 points from Jason Taylor and 20 from Jeff Crocker to earn an 86-68 victory.
