Gibson just misses U.S. Amateur bid

OC’s Rhein Gibson shot a one-over-par 145 to tie for fifth in sectional qualifying for the U.S. Amateur Championship Tuesday.

Gibson, a four-time All-American at Oklahoma Christian, finished two strokes out of third place. The top three golfers qualified for the U.S. Amateur.

The event was held at Staley Farms Golf Club in Kansas City, Mo.
