CASSIE TYLER, Women’s Soccer
Time has slipped through my fingers since my last blog. The funny thing about soccer season is that you get going and before you know it, a few months have passed and you only have two games left in the season, which is where I find myself presently. So much has happened since my last update. We have added some more wins and another tie to our record. We have climbed our way up the polls to our present #9 ranking. The countdown to the end of the regular season has begun and it is now nearly over. We will head up to Alva this Saturday for our match against Northwestern and then we will finish our regular season action on Halloween against OCU. This season has been a whirlwind of activity and I can’t believe how quickly it has gone.
As we stand right now, we have to at least tie or win one of our last two games in order to be SAC champions. We have also positioned ourselves in such a way that we could possibly host the regional tournament. That would be ideal. I would love to have all home games during that tournament. Our fans would also have the opportunity to come out and cheer us on at home for the last time this season. There’s just nothing like playing on your own home field in front of all of your friends and peers.
Overall, I am so proud of our girls and the success we’ve had so far this season. Our projected outlook as a team at the beginning of the season was very positive and we have so far accomplished what we set out to do. We still have quite a road ahead of us as we face the regional, and hopefully, the national tournaments. I have confidence in this team and our abilities and I am so excited for our playoff season.

KEITH HARRIS, Men’s Basketball
With the season right around the corner, the questions still linger about will we be better then last year. I think that, just as any other year, we will have to prove to the spectators that the sky is the limit for this team. As a player, I feel like practice is going really well and the confidence of our team is definitely where it should be. Everyone is still in an uproar about the OU game on Tuesday and it will be exciting to see the support we bring there. We aren’t preparing for OU, but we are definitely looking forward to competing against them. Every practice is a learning experience and as a team we are improving every day. I think this year we are definitely being challenged more by our coach, but that’s also a test because teams are going to challenge us hard this year, too. However, there is no doubt in my mind we will have one of the best teams in Oklahoma Christian history. TOTD - Bad company corrupts good spirit.
Click the box below for highlights from Tuesday’s soccer games against John Brown. In the Lady Eagles’ 2-0 win, Heather Spencer scored off an assist from Meagan Pless, then Kristin Brown scored off an assist from Spencer. In the men’s game Brady Nikkel scored on a late breakaway to give OC a 1-0 win.

MICHELLE LAIR, Women’s Cross Country
Well lookie here! The women’s cross country team just got ranked 21st after not receiving any votes at all last week. This is exciting news for the team because we have really worked hard and now someone is noticing. At this last meet in Kansas, almost everyone PR’d for the season. I got my personal PR for life. It was pretty exciting and felt good to run fast and feel good.
Winding down to the end of the season is also exciting. Both the girls and guys can see the opportunity we may have on going to nationals. The girls are closing the gap on OBU and the guys are closing it on Wayland.
The team has two weeks until our Region VI meet, which is the 4th of November, to really practice hard and make sure we are mentally and physically ready for regionals. Hopefully, this way we can run our best times of the season and either end the season on a fast note, or run into nationals as fast as we can.

KEITH HARRIS, Men’s Basketball
WHAT A WEEK ... full of learning and conditioning, a bit of a change from the previous years. We had our first 6 am practice this morning. For about an hour, it was a struggle to get loose, or maybe I’m getting old. The conditioning that we are doing will definitely help because with our personnel, we’ll run a lot during games. As Coach Hays said, we definitely have the ingredients to be on top come March and all the things we are doing now are preparation for it.
This year seems to be different or more special then the previous years ... maybe because it’s my senior year. Everyone is so enthusiastic and eager to practice every day, and we haven’t started games yet.
Other then basketball, school is going well. The campus seems to be in a uproar about the OU game, wondering when will tickets go on sale and how can they get t-shirts. It definitely makes you as an athlete excited when you know your peers, faculty, and entire school are supporting you all the way. For now, that’s all, I think it’s a good time to go ICE my body down because Monday will be here soon enough.
