Winning dishonorable mention in San Jose State University’s annual Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest, is Lester Guyse, a retired fraud investigator in Portland, Oregon:
“The rising sun crawled over the ridge and slithered across the hot barren terrain into every nook and cranny like grease on a Denny’s grill in the morning rush, but only until eleven o’clock when they switch to the lunch menu.”
I’m sure Lester is in on the joke. The winner of the contest compared a woman to a carbureutor. (In a good way - well, that’s how he meant it.)
P.S. I believe Denny’s serves breakfast 24 hours a day.
