Dan says:

It just keeps getting worse

The Department of Homeland Security’s Chief Privacy Officer, Nuala O’Conner Kelly, used to work for Doublick!

Prior to her beginning her government career, O’Connor Kelly served as Vice President-Data Protection and Chief Privacy Officer for Emerging Technologies for the online media services company, DoubleClick. O’Connor Kelly helped found the company’s first data protection department and was responsible for the creation of privacy and data protection policies and procedures throughout the company and for the company’s clients and partners

So, was she working for Doubleclick before or after the FTC investigated them?

I’m not saying that working for a scummy company should preclude you from ever working in the public sector, but good gracious! Shouldn’t that person come from a consumer protection background rather than a “getting away with as much as we can” background?

Also, O’Connor Kelly’s department is the one that fulfills FOIA requests. So this should be interesting.

I re-faxed the request this morning since I never got a confirmation that it sent. They definitely have it now. If it costs a lot, I’ll be posting a PayPal button for the first time ever.
