Fox, meet henhouse
Well, this is the most astoundingly stupid story of the day. An executive from Claria (nee “Gator”) has joined a Department of Homeland Security privacy board.
Claria is a maker of software that pops up windows as its users surf. Most users don’t know they’ve installed it, and are annoyed by it. Claria has been in several high-profile lawsuits for annoying or illegal behavior. Basically, they are a bad actor. Their product is useless parasiteware.
Government incompetence is quite infuriating, but this is negligent incompetence. This guy needs to be off the board and whoever got him on this committee needs to be fired with extreme prejudice.
Tomorrow I’m calling Istook and both Senators to complain. You should call yours too.
