Spring 2013 Music Department Recitals

The Oklahoma Christian University Department of Music featured several recitals during the spring 2013 semester.  All the recitals were held in the Adams Recital Hall.  The first occurred on Friday, February 22, at 2:30 p.m.  Student performers included vocalists Whitney Jarvis, Jolie Young, Amanda Lewis, Stephanie Loyd, Lauren Wheeler, Kalee Floyd, Megan Reed, and Tommy Winberry. 

On Friday, March 8, at 2:30 p.m. student performers included instrumentalists, Shelby Stanaland, Tiffani Seeley, Sara Dollen, Chase Brown, Laura Blair, Stephen Grant, Kandyce Everett,  Daniel Griffin, Denae Lee, Dale Reeves, and vocalist, Ryan Gonzales.  Also performing was Callen Clarke, an adjunct music professor of composition, who performed on his Oud (a predecessor to the present day guitar).  Mr. Clarke’s friend, Ali Soltani, accompanied him with percussion.

At the Friday, April 5, 2:30 p.m. recital, those who performed included student instrumentalists, Emily Elridge and Marina Pendleton. Vocalists were, Andrew Zapapta, Christopher Jenkins, Hannah Crowder, Amber Cox, Sean Steele, Reece Kingcade, Moriah Willing, Lauren Weatherford, and Rebecca Moran.

Krystal Williams’ Senior Voice Recital was held on Thursday, April 11, at 7:00 pm.  Krystal’s recital featured songs by Handel, Schumann, Cimara Purcell, Thomson, Mozart, Faure, Poldowski, and Strauss.

The annual Honors Recital was held on Friday, April 19, at 2:30 p.m.  The recital included vocalists, Alyssa Jackson, Ariel Moncivais, Kandyce Everett, and Brian Wilcox. Instrumentalists who performed were Dayna Heitfeld, Oboe; Amanda Lewis and Helen Holmlund, piano.  The second half of the recital included students selected by their peers from previous departmental recitals.  The selected Honor Recitalists performing were vocalist, Tommy Winberry and instrumentalists Stephen Grant, Alto Saxophone; and Emily Eldridge, Violin. Departmental awards were also presented.

The semester recitals concluded with Daniel Wheat who presented his Senior Trumpet Recital on Friday evening, April 19, at 7:00 pm., and Julia Yeildings’ Senior Clarinet Recital that was held on Saturday, April 20th at 4:00 pm.
