“Cocoa and Carols,” Oklahoma Christian University’s 36th annual holiday gift to the community, will feature a masterwork by the Baroque composer, Claudio Monterverdi,
as well as much loved holiday music. The yearly event will be Tuesday, December 4, at 7:00 p.m. in Hardeman Auditorium, located in the Garvey Center on the OC campus.
A wide variety of holiday selections will be performed by more than 200 students and faculty of the university’s music department. The program will begin with the traditional processional, “Personent Hodie,” followed by the performance of a set of favorite Christmas carols and the second “Dixit Dominus” of Claudio Monteverdi. These selections and others will be presented by the University Chorale and Orchestra.
Complimentary hot cocoa and cider will be served during intermission in the Conservatory, with seasonal music provided by the University Chamber Orchestra.
Following intermission and refreshments, the program will continue with a mix of favorite Christmas selections performed by the Oklahoma Christian University Chamber Singers, Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Chamber Orchestra.
These selections will include yuletide favorites such as “Silent Night,” “Joy to the World,” “Sleigh Ride,” “Jingle Bells” and “White Christmas.”
Admission is free. For further information call 425-5530.
