Harper Attends Conference in Singapore

Dr. Scott Harper, Associate Professor of Family Studies, presented a paper entitled “Transnational Migratory Labor and its Effects on Filipino Families” at the National Singapore University’s Asia Research Institute Conference on Fatherhood in 21st Century Asia.  The conference was held in Singapore, China, on June 16-19.  Dr. Harper has been teaching at Oklahoma Christian University since the fall of 2004.

Dr. Osburn to present paper

Dr. Holly Osburn presented a paper entitled “Human Resource Management Intervention for Innovation” the Society for Industrial Organization Psychologists National Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, on April 8-15, 2010.  Dr. Osburn has been teaching at Oklahoma Christian University since the Fall of 2006.

Dr. Harper to present at the National Council on Family Relations

Dr. Scott Harper, Associate Professor of Family Studies, in collaboration with OC senior Kyung “Rosa” Lee has prepared a paper titled “Filipino Fathers and Transnational Migration” that has been accepted at the 71st National Council on Family Relations International Conference that will be held in San Francisco on November 11-14.  Dr. Harper will attend the council meeting to present the paper.  He has been teaching at Oklahoma Christian University since 2004.

Psi Chi Competition

Competing against Oklahoma universities, the Oklahoma Christian University student members of the Oklahoma Psychological Society (Psi Chi) took first, second, and fifth place in the undergraduate paper competition last Friday (April 17) at the 27th Annual Oklahoma Psychological Society Spring Research Conference.  These were presentations of original, empirical research.  The students under the direction of Dr. Ryan Newell, Dr. Holly Osburn, and Dr. Scott Harper in the Psychology and Family Studies Department are to be commended – they worked very hard throughout the year on these projects and continue to represent OC well at our state conference.

Harper to attend conference on Family Relations

Dr. Scott Harper, Assistant Professor of Family Studies attended the National Conference on Family Relations in Little Rock, Arkansas, November 5-8.  He presented a paper titled “Filipino Fathers and their Children” which focused on Filipino father’s behaviors and the influences that they have on the lives of their school-age children.  Dr. Harper has been part of the Oklahoma Christian University faculty since 2004 and is currently serving as Chair of the Department of Psychology and Family Studies while Dr. Ryan Newell is away on Pacific Rim studies.

Dr. Holly Osburn to Attend Psychology Conference

Dr. Holly Osburn, Assistant Professor of Psychology and Family Studies, will be attending the annual Oklahoma Network of Teachers of Psychology on September 27th. The conference is designed to share ideas and best practices among professors who teach undergraduate courses in Psychology.  Osburn joined the university in 2007.
