The Oklahoma Christian University Department of Music invites you to attend the second concert of the Oklahoma Community Orchestra 2012-13 season on Tuesday, December 11, at 7:30 p.m. This program will include traditional orchestral music plus holiday selections, and will feature the Boulevard Brass quintet. The concert will be presented in Oklahoma Christian’s Hardeman Auditorium.
The Boulevard Brass (www.boulevardbrass.com) maintain an active performance schedule in the region, and are dedicated to expanding the brass quintet repertoire through new arrangements and original pieces from group trumpet player and composer Mervin Tay. The orchestra and Boulevard Brass will join forces on Michael Horvit’s “Concerto for Brass and Orchestra.” Additionally the orchestra will perform Mendelssohn’s Scherzo from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” along with Schubert’s “Unfinished” Symphony. Together and separately, the two ensembles will present a variety of holiday favorites, including “Silent Night,” “We Wish You A Merry Christmas,” and “Sleigh Ride.”
For further information, please call the OC Music Department at 425-5530, or visit the OCO website at www.okorchestra.org. Admission is $10 at the door and $8 if purchased in advance online (www.okorchestra.org). Children under age 13 will be admitted free of charge. OC students, faculty, and staff are admitted free of charge with their OC ID.
The OCO is the “orchestra-in-residence” at Oklahoma Christian University. Several OC students, alumni, and faculty perform in the orchestra. Support for this performance has been provided, in part, by the Oklahoma Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
