OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 2, 2012) – Oklahoma Christian guard Brandon Troutman has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 College Division men’s basketball first-team list.
The College Sports Information Directors of America, the group that votes on the award, announced the all-district teams Thursday. Troutman, a 6-foot-1 junior from Flower Mound, Texas, has a 3.58 grade point average in physical education.
Entering Thursday night’s game against Wayland Baptist (Texas), Troutman had started 19 of 21 games this season for OC (14-7) and was averaging 8.2 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. He leads the Eagles in 3-point field goal percentage, having made 39 of 92 shots from behind the arc, a 42.4-percent clip.
Troutman is the fourth player in OC history to make the Academic All-District list, joining first-teamers Dillon Ripley (2006) and Brady Page (2006) and second-teamer Jason Taylor (2009).
The first-team honorees from each of eight districts will advance to the Academic All-American ballot. District 7 is comprised of schools from Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and Wyoming.
The College Division Academic All-District and All-America teams are comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.
