ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (March 11, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian track and field teams opened up the outdoor season with three victories at the Southwestern Invitational from Emily Ostlund, Michelle Marcha, and Chris Hunt.
Ostlund and Marcha led the Lady Eagles as each came away with first-place finishes in their respective events. Marcha claimed the High Jump with a leap of four feet, eleven and three-quarter inches. Ostlund took care of business in the Javelin throwing 118 feet, nine inches.
Ostlund also took second place in the discuss with a toss of 115 feet, 11 inches.
Melyssa Cardenas grabbed a second-place finish in the women’s 5000-meter run with a time of 19:08.13 while Cady Block took second in the steeplechase with a 13:04.71.
Molly Motsenbocker and Hannah Kettner each took home third-place finishes at the meet. Motsenbocker ran a 1:12.07 in the 400-meter hurdles and Kettner cleared eight feet, 10 and one-quarter inches.
Hunt led the men’s team with a 400-meter hurdle victory with a time of 58.70.
Tracy Marshall took second in the Long jump after hitting 21 feet, eight inches with teammate Phillip Dale coming in just behind with a 21 feet, seven and a half inch jump to place third.
Dale also took third place in the triple jump after leaping 43 feet, nine inches.
A third place finish was also seen by the women’s 4x100 meter relay who clocked a 52.90.
The OC track and field teams will head back to action on March 27 at the Oklahoma Baptist Bison Invitational.
