Payne signs on with Eagles’ golf squad

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Dec. 18, 2009) – Ardmore High School senior, Trey Payne, has signed a letter of intent to play on the Eagles’ golf squad for the 2010-11 school year.

Payne helped lead the Ardmore High School golf squad to becoming the Oklahoma class 5A state champions for the 2009 season. Payne also place as high as second during the season at the class 5A regional tournament.

With his high school season ahead, Payne hopes to help the Ardmore Tigers defend their state championship this spring.

Payne shot a 68 for his career best score at the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour held at Lake Hefner.

The Oklahoma Christian men’s golf squad played to an NAIA national championship during the 2009 spring season and will utilize Payne during the 2010-11 school year.

“Trey comes from a town where golf has always been very important and the competition is as good as one can find. After having Trey on his visit, I knew he was a perfect fit for OC,” said head golf coach Kelsey Cline. “His attitude and willingness to learn will make his time at OC very productive. I look forward to coaching him in the years to come.”
