OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Nov. 16, 2009) – Five Oklahoma Christian soccer players received All-Conference honors for the 2009 soccer season this weekend.
From the women’s soccer team, Allie Cofer (GK) earned second team All-SAC honors while Kacie Hoppe (D) also earned second team All-SAC honors.
Cofer, a sophomore goalkeeper from Edmond, Okla, made 67 saves over the course of the season and helped the Lady Eagles earn eight shutouts. Cofer also received the Sooner Athletic Conference defensive player of the week award for the week of Oct. 5-11.
Hoppe, a senior defender from Blanchard, Okla., was an integral part of the Lady Eagles’ defensive squad this season. Hoppe assisted in the Lady Eagles’ eight shutouts while netting three goals and passing out one assist.
On the men’s team, Ryan Frampton (D) earned the defensive player of the year along with first team All-SAC honors. Cristian Fernandes (MF) earned first team All-SAC honors and Tim Spencer (GK) earned second team All-SAC honors.
Frampton, a senior defender from Moore, Okla., was the focal point of the Eagles’ defense this season leading them to four shutouts and the first round of post season play. Frampton scored two goals during the season as well.
Fernandes, a senior midfielder from Maringa, Brazil, was an offensive threat with the ability to score and make plays happen. Fernandes scored seven goals during the year and passed out three assists to tally 17 points for the season.
Spencer, a freshman goalkeeper from Broken Arrow, Okla., played a large roll in the Eagles’ defense this year by tallying four shutouts, making 71 saves, and only allowing 15 goals over the course of the season. Spencer received the Sooner Athletic Conference defensive player of the week two times for the weeks of Oct. 12-18 and Oct. 26-Nov. 1.
The Lady Eagles finished the year with a 9-6-3 record while the Eagles finished with a 9-5-2 record after losing in the first round of the conference tournament.
