OC’s Jared Consoli shot a 70 Tuesday and finished tied for 10th in the Harold Funston Invitational.
HUNTSVILLE, Texas (Oct. 11, 2011) – Led by under-par rounds from Alasdair Dalgliesh, Jared Consoli and Vilhelm Bogstrand, Oklahoma Christian’s men’s golf team rallied Tuesday for a fourth-place finish in the Harold Funston Invitational.
The Eagles, who began play Tuesday in sixth, posted a 284 and closed with a two-round team score of 577, 13 shots behind the winner and tournament host, Sam Houston State. First-round leader – and OC’s Sooner Athletic Conference rival – Oklahoma City University finished in second at 567, three shots behind the Bearkats, while Nicholls State was third at 575.
The 12-team tournament included seven NCAA Division I squads, and the Eagles finished higher than five of them.
Dalgliesh fired a 3-under-par 68 Tuesday on the 6,943-yard layout at Raven Nest Golf Club, the best round by an OC golfer either day, to finish tied for seventh overall at 1-under 141. Nicholls State’s Kristjan Einarsson took medalist honors with a 9-under 133.
Also posting a top-10 finish for OC was Jared Consoli, whose 70 on Tuesday was three shots better than his first-round score. Bogstrand, who shot 76 on Monday, recovered with a 2-under 69 Tuesday and finished 17th.
Logan Herbst’s 78 Tuesday gave him a two-round score of 149, placing him in a tie for 31st, while Kyle Hudelson fired his second straight 77 and finished 44th at 154.
The Eagles’ next action will be in the U.C. Ferguson Classic, set for Oct. 24-25 in Oklahoma City.
