OC golf squad battles for lead

SILVIS, Ill. (May 19, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian golf team fell one spot to a four way tie for second place in the NAIA national tournament at TPC at Deere Run on Wednesday after second round play.

The Eagles shot their way to a 301 round score led by Freshman Logan Herbst who came away from the green with a second round 73. OC shot ten strokes off their first round score allowing the University South Carolina Beaufort to step into first at six strokes ahead with a 586 total score.

Oscar Stark and Preston Wilkins each shot 75’s for the day coming in at four strokes over par while Axel Ochoa shot 78 to round out the Eagle’s scorers. Vilhelm Bogstrand was OC’s fifth man with a 79 second round score.

The Eagles sit at second place along with conference counterparts Southern Nazarene University (Okla.) and Oklahoma City University. Malone College (Ohio) also sits tied for second place overall at 592.

After day two of the tournament, Ochoa is tied at 10th place overall while Stark sits at a tie for 13th individually.

The Eagles will continue to duke it out for the lead on Thursday during round three. OC will begin to tee off at 12:39 p.m.
