OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 27, 2012) – Oklahoma Christian’s men’s basketball coaches will wear sneakers during Saturday’s game against Mid-America Christian as part of the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers awareness weekend.

The annual weekend is an initiative of the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Participating NABC member coaches wear sneakers instead of dress shoes with their suits to demonstrate support for the American Cancer Society.

Fans can support the cause by texting “COACH” to 20222 from any wireless phone to make a $5 donation toward Coaches vs. Cancer.

At Oklahoma Christian, there will be donation containers at the concession stand and entrances to the Eagles’ Nest and a collection will be taken up at halftime of the game, which is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.

OC head coach Dan Hays is participating in the initiative, as are assistant coaches Terril Hankins, Bob Battisti and Rob McKinzie.
