JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 4, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian men’s distance medley relay team qualified for the finals at the NAIA Indoor National Track Meet on Thursday night.
The men’s DMR team placed second in the second qualifying heat in a time of 10:15.43 to automatically qualify for the finals that will take place on Saturday.
The women’s team also ran a DMR and placed sixth in the second heat with a time of 12:55.48. The team did not qualify for finals but placed 21st overall out of 28 teams.
Several OC athletes will compete in Friday’s events to qualify for the final competitions held on Saturday.
Silas Kisorio, who ran a 3:57.34 mile earlier this season, is the top qualifier heading into the 800-meter and mile run events.
Frezer Legesse will run in the semifinals of the 1000-meter run and holds the 12th ranked time.
Geoffrey Njonjo and David McWilliams will compete for OC in the 3000-meter run and are ranked 12th and 27th, respectively, in the event.
Also competing for the OC men, will be Renaldo Garrett in the 60 meter hurdles who is ranked 27th heading into prelims.
For the Lady Eagles, Irene Masai will run the 800-meter run and is ranked sixth out of 11 total competitors in the event.
Rachel Snider has the 20th fastest time heading into the 1000-meter run.
In the throwing events, Denise Mattoon will compete in the shot put and weight throw competitions and is ranked eighth and second, respectively.
