BROWNSVILLE, Texas (Sept. 15, 2011) – Oklahoma Christian managed only four shots and dropped a 2-0 decision to Texas-Brownsville on Thursday in the first game of the Scorpion Soccer Classic.
OC (2-2) never managed much offensive flow, taking only two shots in each half. Texas-Brownsville (3-2-1) had 21 shots for the game, scoring both of its goals in the first half.
Linette Cuvillier put the Scorpions ahead at the 21:10 mark and about 14 minutes later, Verena Wonsikowski scored off a feed from Jodie Hunter.
OC goalkeeper Chelsie Flagg went the distance, making six saves. Jessica Hamer and Amanda Fulton combined on the shutout for Texas-Brownsville.
“It was a tough game,” OC head coach Randall Robison said. “We played well in the second half. UTB is a quality side.”
The Lady Eagles will play Friday against Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) in Brownsville.
