CONWAY, Ark. (Feb. 23, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian women’s tennis team found success this past weekend winning 7-2 over Harding University (Ark.) and 9-0 over Ouachita Baptist University (Ark.).
On Friday, the Lady Eagle squad nearly swept the singles matches winning five out of the six. Leila Kehani took on Harding’s Chelsea Hunt winning the first set 6-4 and losing the second 2-6. Kehani fell on the tie breaker 10-5 giving the Lady Bison their lone singles victory.
Olfa Dhaoui, Maja Vuzem, Maja Plavsic, Andreea Constantinescu, and Vimbai Mawisire all won their singles matches two sets to none.
For doubles, Vuzem and Plavsic teamed to win 8-1 over HU’s Kathrine Golik and Callie Huey. Dhaoui then took down Ling Chan and Fabioly Wisnesky 8-1 before Keihani and Mawisire narrowly fell in an 8-6 decision.
The Lady Eagles won the team match 7-2.
On Saturday, the Lady Eagles played Ouachita Baptist sweeping the team match in dominating fashion 9-0.
Dhaoui, Vuzem, Plavsic, Constantinescu, Keihani and Mawisire all captured easy singles victories with two set wins and Keihani earned a perfect 6-0, 6-0 win for the Lady Eagles.
The Lady Eagles’ squad did not falter at all in doubles play as well. Vuzem and Plavsic earned an 8-2 win and Dhaoui and Constantinescu teamed to net a perfect 8-0 victory. Lastly, Keihani and Mawisire won 8-1 in the final doubles match topping off the 9-0 sweep.
The Lady Eagles will return to play in Edmond, Okla. at the Oak Tree Country Club on Friday and Saturday at the Eagle Tennis Indoor Classic.
