Four OC golfers net All-America awards

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (May 26, 2010) – Four Oklahoma Christian golfers earned NAIA All-America honors, as was announced this week, with NAIA All-Tournament Team members Oscar Stark and Axel Ochoa receiving First-Team honors.

In addition to Stark and Ochoa, the 2010 NAIA runner-up Eagle squad produced two additional All-American athletes for the season with Logan Herbst and Preston Wilkins receiving Third-Team honors.

Stark, who finished seventh at the national tournament, came away with his third All-America award and second First-Team honor. He earned a Third-Team honor in 2008 while receiving a First-Team honor as a member of last season’s national championship team. Stark shot a 72.7 stroke average through 30 rounds this season heading into the national tournament.

Also a member of the 2009 national championship squad, Ochoa earned All-America First-Team honors to make him a three-time All-American for the Eagles as well. Ochoa earned First-Team honors a year ago and Second-Team honors in 2008. Ochoa tied for 12th place to make this year’s All-Tournament team and averaged 72.9 strokes in 28 rounds heading into the national tournament.

Freshman, Logan Herbst, earned his first All-America honor with a Third-Team award. Herbst shot a 74.24 stroke average for the season prior to the national tournament.

Preston Wilkins also earned All-America Third-Team honors after holding a 73.36 stroke average this season. The award is the second for Wilkins who received Second-Team honors a year ago and was a member of the 2009 national championship squad.
