Domenico DeGrazia scored on a charging header for Oklahoma Christian in a 2-1 loss to John Brown.
OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 15, 2011) – Daniel Forry scored twice, including the game-winner in the second overtime, to lift John Brown past Oklahoma Christian 2-1 on Saturday night in men’s soccer.
John Brown (6-6-1, 3-1-1 Sooner Athletic Conference) trailed 1-0 entering the final 15 minutes of regulation but the Golden Eagles continually peppered the goal with shots. In the 76th minute, Forry’s blast from about 12 yards out – on an assist from Hunter Bradford – beat OC goalkeeper Tim Spencer.
In the fifth minute of the second overtime period, Joel Thomas fed Forry, who scored a close-in goal to give the Golden Eagles the win.
A charging Domenico DeGrazia headed home a curling cross from the left side by Tommy Guernsey in the 54th minute to put Oklahoma Christian (5-4-4, 1-3-2) ahead 1-0. It was DeGrazia’s third goal of the season.
The Eagles had three other great scoring chances snuffed by John Brown goalkeeper Pablo Garcia, whose six saves included a handful of the spectacular variety, keeping his team close until Forry took over offensively.
Oklahoma Christian wasted a strong performance by Spencer, who recorded 10 saves. John Brown outshot the Eagles 28-20, including 25-10 after halftime.
