SILVIS, Ill. (May 18, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian golf squad kicked off the first round of the NAIA national tournament, held at TPC at Deere Run, with a 291 team score to lead the tournament heading into round two on Wednesday.
Axel Ochoa led not only the Eagles during the first round with a 67, but also leads the tournament as he sits at first overall heading into round two. Oscar Stark shot his way to par at 71 during the first round leaving him tied for ninth place overall.
Rounding out the first round bests for the Eagles were Vilhelm Bogstrand with a 76 and Preston Wilkins with a 77 to total a 291 team score for the first round.
The Eagles sit just two strokes ahead of conference rival Oklahoma City University who shot a 293 for the first round leaving them in second place.
The OC golf squad will begin teeing off at 12:45 p.m. tomorrow for second round play.
