OC golfers pose with the team trophy after winning the Texoma Championship on Tuesday.
KINGSTON, Okla. (Oct. 4, 2011) – Vilhelm Bogstrand led five Oklahoma Christian golfers in the top eight as the Eagles successfully defended their title Tuesday in the Texoma Championship at Chickasaw Pointe.
The Eagles posted a team score of 297 Tuesday for a three-round total of 876, 30 shots better than runner-up Cameron. Southern Nazarene finished another seven shots back.
Bogstrand fired an even-par 72 Tuesday on the 7,085-yard course on the shores of Lake Texoma in southern Oklahoma to claim medalist honors. He finished at 4-under 212 for the tournament, five shots ahead of teammate Jared Consoli, who closed with a 1-under 71. Bogstrand tied for medalist honors in the Texoma Championship last year.
OC player Alasdair Dalgliesh, playing unattached, was third at 4-over 220. OC’s Kyle Hudleson and Blake Jackson tied for fourth at 222. Consoli, Dalgliesh and Hudleson all posted the best individual finishes of their respective careers.
Yet another Eagle, Logan Herbst, was tied for seventh at 225. The Eagles’ fifth player, Preston Wilkins, closed at 232, tied for 21st in the 70-player field.
“I’m extremely proud of Vilhelm defending his championship from last year,” OC Director of Golf David
Lynn said. “Jared was a huge positive for the team.”
OC will play next in Sam Houston State’s Harold Funston Invitational in Huntsville, Texas, next Monday and Tuesday.
