HASTINGS, Neb. (Sept. 20, 2011) – Last year’s NAIA women’s soccer runnerup, Hastings (Neb.), had its way with Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday night, rolling to a 6-0 win over the Lady Eagles.
Sara Wenzl scored three goals for No. 17-ranked Hastings (4-2-1) as the Broncos outshot OC 32-8 and extended the Lady Eagles’ losing streak to three games.
OC (2-4) hung with Hastings until the 28th minutes, when Tara Anderson put the Broncos ahead with a shot from the inside toward the far post of the goal. Less than 10 minutes later, Wenzl scored on a rebound to make it 2-0.
Maddie Michalek put Hastings up 3-0 in the 58th minute. Wenzl scored again in the 64th minute and completed her hat trick in the 67th minute. Jessica Carlson scored with about six minutes left for the Broncos.
OC goalkeeper Chelsie Flagg made a season-high nine saves. Angela Pete took three of the Lady Eagles’ shots while Amanda Schatzel and Rachel Bates had two shots each.
The Lady Eagles will return home for their final nonconference game of the season, hosting Houston-Victoria (Texas) on Friday.
