OC Hosts Energy Conference
The Academy of Leadership & Liberty will host the 15th-annual International Energy Policy Conference on the Oklahoma Christian University campus Sept. 21-23.
The IEPC is one of the nation’s leading conferences for energy policy and national/international energy industry issues.
Discussions held at this conference impact the entire industry, and industry critical to our economy and our national security. In past years, the conference has been held in Washington, D.C., Tulsa, Okla., and Dallas, Texas.
“One of the things that makes the OC experience unique is the quality of programs that are hosted on our campus,” Vice President of Community Engagement Dr. Nathan Mellor said. “The International Energy Policy Conference will provide our students an incredible opportunity to engage leaders whose decisions have the potential for making a significant impact on the future. Through this conference and many of the other programs hosted at OC, our students are being given the opportunity to consider the big questions of our time. I am confident their voices will add to the quality of the discussion.”
The conference is designed to address issues such as the need for reasonable priced energy in critical economic times both in the United States and around the world.
As in past years, the IEPC will be conducted in forums, where organizations are encouraged to give their input and hear from specialists.
In 2008, the IEPC forums focused on “Energy Policy and the Upcoming Elections” and “Energy Security and Technology.”
In addition to representatives from the oil and natural gas sectors, the conference also attracts attendees from the wind and solar sectors. The conference also brings in energy experts from around the worldand others who are well educated in the energy industry. Last year, Congresswoman Mary Fallin was among those who spoke. Fallin is the first woman to represent Oklahoma in the U.S. Congress since 1920.
In past years, the conference has been free of charge to those who attend because of the generous sponsorships of the Oklahoma Royalty Company, the Energy Advocates, the State Chamber, the U.S. Department of Energy, Sarkey’s Energy Center/University of Oklahoma, People to People International, the American Gas Association, and the Oklahoma Marginal Well Commission.
